If you are considering adopting a dog from an animal shelter or a dog rescue group, that is wonderful! If you adopt a shelter animal, you will give some other street animal a space to live. Animal shelters are places where unwanted, stray, or abandoned animals are provided a home, mostly a temporary one, until a permanent home can be found. And yes, we actually do have that many people that want to adopt our dogs and puppies and pay our adoption fee.

As pet birds spend most of their time and space in a confined environment, there is less to no possibility of causing allergy to your children. One of the big reasons people adopt dogs is for companionship and love. We were lucky enough to only have to drive an hour to get our dog, but I was willing to go a lot further to find the perfect addition to our family.

It seems that is when people are most cruel to animals. Sure, we hear that puppies are more readily accepted by the pets already in the household, but bringing in new older pets is do-able. We hear all the time that dogs in rescue are damaged goods. All rescues will likely create unique ideas for screening parties, but we invite hosts to use the PAWS New England party package” with dog-themed drinks, vegan appetizers and desserts.

Fortunately an increasing number of perspective owners are looking to pet adoption to find their new pets. We work with our local animal shelters and communities to provide support and a safe haven for these homeless dogs. Pet shelters take in pets of all ages and breeds and whether you believe it or not, there is often a better selection of animals compared to a pet store.

People and animals cannot be replaced even momentarily and by not letting someone grieve over the loss of their loved one by giving them something else to be responsible for is a bad idea and may backfire as a result. Shelter pets have been rescued to go on to do great work for performers, the military, the justice system, and as therapy animals – just to name a few examples.
